Grantham's Olympic bid, a well kept secret, was actually too well kept, as even the IOC were unaware of it. Grantham Mayor Frank Turner was heard to comment 'Never mind, we probably wouldn't have been able to afford the same number of bribes as Paris or London'.
Local man Danny Braaan was believed to be upset that the Beach Volleyball wouldn't now be held 'daaan't busseeh'.

Rumours are abound that the towns close associations with a contraversial world figure countede against it in the eyes of many of the IOC members.
Friends of Issac Newton were unavailable for comment.
